Gallery has been updated!

Feb 23, 2019
Hi everyone! The update to the Gallery is now online. A lot of sweat and tears went into this, well, maybe just a lot of effort. And well worth it...

I understand people are short on time, and are not after seeing many creations at once, so there is a ] limited number of pieces in the Gallery. Hopefully it is more accessible than the previous Gallery, especially that previews to the creations appear all at once, rather than seeing just one creation at a time.

Really happy this Gallery is available now. If you would like to see more creations, you can view many more in the Blog.

Tap/Click here to see the new Gallery...

With the new Gallery, the main idea is to make something different. With the material background behind the pieces, the material background has been toned down, so as not to grab your attention over the creations. The material background hopefully fits in and looks nice, while being a more subtle decoration to the main focus, the creations.

It was fun creating the shapes. Simplicity and clarity is still at the core. For example, I decided not to fit in many pieces by making small previews. It can be overwhelming at first glance. Speaking of which, I want your first glance of the Gallery, to take everything in quickly, and not be overwhelming.

Hopefully this is the case, and you enjoy your quick view of the Gallery. Have a good weekend.

Problem to solve...

Feb 9, 2019
Taking a little breather from UX Design this week. Let’s focus on something I have been wanted to write about for a while.

As work on the blog has been done for a while now, it became apparent early on that managing links on the Blog will become a lot more laborious.

Naturally if we find ways to be more efficient over time, while the same quality of work can be maintained, less steps are involved and time gets saved.

While putting creations on the blog, thought is put into not only the layout of the links, also how they are designed to function with coding between pages. Also considered is how the blog can incorporate changes, to save a lot of time in coding the pages, as well as be easy and hopefully fun to use.

In just 2-3 years, creating a blog page for a new month, will involve a lot more effort and time. Thankfully this can be avoided when coding a website. Coding alone will not resolve the issue. It also takes thought on layout design to make it easy to use and appealing. Thought going into where the blog will go in years to come, helps a lot as well.

One thought is, instead of updating past blog links for each month page, now can update once. This ensures consistency, and saves a considerable amount of time.

There will be more changes to the links, to accommodate blog entries over the coming years. Presently, the amount of work and time that goes into adding a page for a new month on the Blog, increases every month, and in complexity. The coming changes will not only be easy to understand and use, it will make updating the Blog easier over the years...
