Photo Editing
Oct 27, 2018
It’s great to see so many people taking an interest in their photos these days. With smartphones becoming so powerful, so easy to use yet still in your pocket, makes this a worthy tool ready for spur of the moment photos to take.
Having finer adjustments with Photoshop and the like, I have chosen a complex and difficult photo to work with here. There are some bright areas, a lot of dark areas early in the morning as the Sun rises, and some construction work with very dark colour, making the photo editing process considerably more difficult than for most photos I have taken.
To get more distant objects more defined, clarity with them, colour balance more balanced. Getting main points of interest in the right areas of the photo.
The video above shows what photo-editing with a complex photo can do. It has a before and after comparison, showing the original photo first for approximately 5 seconds, then the same photo after it has been edited. Tap/Click the thumbnail above for the video...
Animation
Oct 21, 2018
Animation has always fascinated me, in different forms. Whether an animation with interesting characters and story, animated logos, transitions, menus on a website, the list goes on.
Below is an animation I created in Adobe After Effects. Click/Tap the image to see the animation. Made sure it can look nice, yet be practical e.g. for an app or website...
I don't think you would pay for a cinema ticket to watch this. If using an app, waiting for the next screen to get prepared by your device so it can appear on screen, can be tedious looking at no change happening. On a website, starting a long streaming video of a large size can also take a while to start.
Placing a temporary loading animation like this can get the viewer's attention, hopefully make their wait more interesting than otherwise.
Post Cards
Oct 14, 2018
Sending a Post Card. It has been a long time since I have sent one. The feeling of giving the recipient an idea of what something means to you. Didn’t think I would be sending a digital Post Card when I was little. Such convenience, saving time and effort in creating the Post Card, not to mention the time it saves in delivery.
Here is a Post Card I just created, poking fun at my regular walks. Click/Tap on it, and hope you like it...
How about sending a card for someone’s birthday, a place you travel to, or a different event?
Physical Post Cards still have their place as well. The effort in digitally creating the Post Card, get it printed on a card that has a special surface and feel to the touch, perhaps can show even more value from the sender.
